VETTING AND BARRING SCHEME REGISTRATION HALTED
Registration with the Vetting and Barring Scheme (VBS) has been halted to allow the government to remodel the scheme back to proportionate, commonsense levels, it was announced today.
Voluntary registration with the VBS for new employees and job-movers working or volunteering with children and vulnerable adults was due to start on 26 July.
This registration has now been stopped. The government recognises that many businesses, community groups and individuals see the current scheme as disproportionate and overly burdensome, and that it unduly infringes on civil liberties.
Home Secretary Theresa May said: “The safety of children and vulnerable adults is of paramount importance to the new government.
Employers and volunteer organisations - NOW HALTED
We are a agent for the CRB so we will be able to carry out ISA registration for you.
Employers and volunteer organisations who deal with children and vulnerable adults always need to check a person’s ISA status before employing them. You cannot take their word for it and neither can you have them in post – even supervised – before you know the outcome of the check.
From July 2010, when you recruit someone new to work with children or vulnerable adults you will need to check their ISA status. This will determine whether or not you can employ them (or take them on as volunteers), and may affect what activities they can undertake.
